The start of September brings the end of summer’s warm days as the crisp fall air settles in. This time of year not only marks a change in temperature, but also celebrates the country’s workforce on Labor Day. Although Labor Day traditionally represents the last day of summer, it also celebrates the spirit of hard work, thereby making it the perfect time to begin the job search.
As I start to apply for future internships and jobs, I am beginning to understand how daunting the job application process can be. However, as my summer internship with the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development concludes, I realize that Massachusetts provides so many great resources to assist in the job seeking process.
The EOLWD has 34 One-Stop Career Centers located all around Massachusetts that offer a variety of job preparation workshops, job fairs, and employer recruitment events. These workshops help job seekers structure their resumes, write cover letters, and strengthen their interviewing skills. Once these job seekers have gained the necessary expertise they need, they can connect with employers at one of the many job fairs or employer recruitment events occurring regularly throughout Massachusetts.
Labor Day celebrates the importance of this country’s workers. This holiday not only celebrates their spirit, but also the crucial role they have played in the success of our nation. Consistent with this celebration of hard work, there are many workshops, job fairs, and recruitment events happening this fall at several of our 34 One-Stop Career Centers. Find the One-Stop Career Center nearest you by visiting the career centers search page.
